Yuki Yamato's new film "Girls of Cinema" was released on December 29, 2017 on Vimeo. Shot a year ago on December 29, 2016 in Shinjuku, Tokyo, the film is an 8-minute, 42-second all-English piece about three girls running around the streets of Shinjuku. Moka Yasushi, winner of the Miss iD 2016 Grand Prix, has been cast in the lead role. Her co-stars are Hiraku and Sumire Ueno. The music used in the film is "Strawberry Field de Tsukumete" and "Punch Drunk Love Song" by Sunny Day Service. Director Yuki Yamato said, "I'm thinking of shooting this version as ep.0, as a feature film. We will continue to contact girls who are willing to fight with us and start up the project, so please look forward to seeing what happens next.

Tokiko’s mother died 20 years ago and her father Tetsuya is now in his 70's. Her father has a free spirit and is cute. Tokiko is in her mid 40's and still single. She has a strong personality. In their past, Tokiko and Tetsuya did not have a good relationship. It got so bad that they almost ended their relationship, but now they occasionally meet. They go out to eat together and have conversations. Tokiko decides to publish an essay about her father Tetsuya. To collect information for her essay, she meets Tetsuya and listens to various stories, but it's not just pleasant memories.
A quiet teen's life is shaken up when she's forced to be her arrogant neighbor's slave. He loves her, but they both have a lot to learn about trust.
Hori plays the three roles of a girl who watches a movie, a girl who takes a movie, and a girl who plays a role in a movie, depicting a story of three people related to movies. Director Yamato has been depicting the delicate emotions of girls. This film is a perfect example of his worldview.

Nana is a young hostess of Nakajima Inn in a town by the sea. At the beginning of September when Nakajima Inn is closed for business, a young man, Shuntaro appears and says that he really wants to stay at the inn. He explains that he lost his loved one a month ago and she had stayed at the inn just before she died. In order to follow the deceased lover's footsteps, Shuntaro wanders around the town and the beach day and night. Nana who's been watching Shuntaro's behavior volunteers showing around the town and finds herself hanging about with him a lot. This is the town she knows more than anybody. Moreover, just like Shuntaro, she is also the one who lives with the pain of losing loved ones. Nana and Shuntaro spend time together sharing each other's secrets, influencing each other and eventually, their frozen time starts moving.
When fourteen-year-old Yo is hospitalized she gradually develops feelings for Yayoi who is a nurse tending her. However, Yayoi leaves the nursing profession in favour of prostitution. Yo is disappointed, but turns to the older woman after she is the subject of unrequited love from her mother's man. The two grow closer and Yo is about to find out what motivates Yayoi.
Mako is worried about her future, afraid to be stuck all alone with a baby in the countryside, just like all the young people of her age. While her friends stay busy by having sex, she has her own way to keep her mind off boredom.
Adapted from Kabei Yukako's novel of the same name. After being guided by a mysterious message from the past on a cellphone's answering machine, Umi encounters Masahiro, a delinquent at her school. They gradually come closer, but more messages appearing on the answering machine will unveil past secrets...

Kotaro and Yoko are headed back from a high school reunion, when on the way a tennis umpire’s chair blocks their path, and the person who has come to pick it up is someone that Kotaro used to teach at a cram school, and he asks for their help to take it to the local tennis club.
Toka returns to the island she grew up to attend her mother’s second memorial service. She finds out that her father Seiji is wearing her mother’s clothes. As if that doesn’t come as enough of a shock, Seiji even tells Toka that he is getting married again to a man named Kazuo. The film explores the particular incident and the life of the island people with a humorous touch.

The original screenplay was written for the compilations’ release, taking inspiration from KIRINJI’s songs, as well as from the Melancholy Mellow theme which is also the releases title.

September 20th. Sunny. I wonder if it bugs me so much because I can't see it. I've gotten totally obsessed with finding out what's inside that bump. It's all I think about on my way to school, in the bathtub, and when I'm trying to fall asleep at night. I mean, if I could just figure out what's inside that bump, I'm sure I could figure out lots of other things too.
The film consists of five films about Yamato in the post-Corona period. Tominaga's "The Fourth Eye" depicts a bewildered father who is introduced to his stepfather by his estranged daughter; Kiyohara's "The Light of March" tells the story of a woman who becomes pregnant at a young age and tries to flee the town. Takeuchi's "Makie no Bouken" (Makie's Adventure), Yamamoto's "Ano Hi, Kono Hi, Sono Hi" (Ano Hi, Kono Hi, Sono Hi), about a city employee who goes around taking video letters for people who are retiring, and Miyazaki's "Eri-chan to Kumi-chan no Long, Mundane Day" (Eri-chan to Kumi-chan no Long, Mundane Day), about two people who have too much time on their hands to bury a time capsule in a forest on the outskirts of town.

Her fellow models immerse themselves in a rich lifestyle, as if it were their only reason for living, however Hime Tsubaki, who goes along with them, doesn't fit in.
