Aching Hearts
Set in the early 1960s, the story evolves around highschool sweethearts Jonas and Agnete, their friendships and families, trials and tribulations. Jonas fails to give Agnete the kind of attention she craves, and when she decides to start a new romance, he feels for the first time a cold stab of jealousy. Their rocky relationship takes Jonas through the spectrum of emotions that arises with an aching heart. »Aching Hearts« is shot over a period of three years, taking into account the development of the young actors, some of whom are amateurs from the actual milieus Malmros is depicting.

A young woman who falls in love with her teacher is hit by heartache and challenges she is not prepared for and struggles to escape her dark frame of mind.
As a group of Danish children pass into adolescence, gradually the most popular girl becomes an outcast, for trivial reasons that she never understands.
Filmmaker Johannes and his wife, schoolteacher Signe, experience the biggest sorrow and misfortune one can ever imagine. Nevertheless, in all the hopelessness they must try to reach for mutual and mature love in order to continue life after death.
This non-narrative film unveils three episodes in the psychosexual life of a neurotic man, beginning with a trip he took to the countryside over the holidays as a small boy, to visit a cousin. Later, he is shown as a high-school boy (Mads Ole Erhadsen). Finally, he is shown as a young man, busily engaged in the amorous pursuit of a trainee nurse.
Mads is not going to a Christmas tree party this year because his father’s company is way too small for that. Therefore, Mads decides to arrange his own party. He invites some of his friends and his teacher’s grandson. Arranging a party is of course not easy for a young boy; it involves theft, intrigue, deception… Can Mads overcome the difficulties, or will there be no Christmas tree party?
When Mette and her father are left alone over the Christmas holidays to paint the new nursery the father ends up alone most of the time. The 16-year-old Mette is always off with her friends at the disco or skating, and the father does not mind until he discovers that young Jønne has taken some semi-nude photos of Mette and clearly is intending to go further in their relationship. Suddenly the father starts hanging out with Mette and her friends as they practice winter sports together - and there is hardly anything stranger, or more embarrassing, as far as Mette is concerned. It is clear that father and daughter are heading toward a change in their relationship as both have to adjust to her "growing up."
A biographical drama from writer and director Nils Malmros in which reality is mixed with childhood memories.
In his new film, an intriguing and delicately crafted drama, Malmros portrays the poignant story of a man, who grew up in very modest circumstances in the early years of the 20th century, but whose diligence, intelligence and willingness to endure hardship helped him to become a leading brain surgeon. A success story on the face of it, but a story about a man - who is none other than the director's father - a man of powerful emotions. The film explores the nature and origin of the guilt that repeatedly deprived him of happiness.
Young vicar Mr. Paul arrives at the Faroe Islands to take up a benefice, and meets the young Barbara, twice married to vicars, and with both husbands laid cold in the grave. Despite the warnings of the surrounding community and his own religious scruples, he falls victim to Barbara's at once innocent and sinful charm. The appearance of the charming and gallant Andreas Heide in Thorshavn puts their love to the severest of tests.
