Rajini is working as a coolie in a factory. He is asked by three brothers to act as a foreign-returned rich man the heir of a property. Rajini acts but always escapes as he doesn't want to face consequences. But then he comes to know that he is the heir to the property, his father was killed by three brothers to take away the property and mother became a mental patient. He avenges the death of his father by killing the villains. At last, he says he doesn't want to be an heir to money and always remains as a coolie.

Aruna Arunachalam (Manorama) is an estate owner in Ooty and she is in trouble with Thiruttani (Anandaraj), who keep illegally some hectares of her estate. Murugan (Prabhu)won the Mr. Madras award and he also worked as a model. His mother (Lakshmi) advices him to find a decent job. Murugan's mother is worried about her son, she comes there and she faints after seeing Aruna. Murugan's mother is in fact Aruna's daughter. In the past Murugan's mother married with a poor labourer and Aruna didn't accept it.

The film, which has music composed by M. S. Viswanathan and Ilaiyaraaja was a Deepavali release of 1992. The film was remade in Telugu as Amma Koduku with Rajasekhar.
