After the passing away of their parents, Ravi Anand, the eldest of seven brothers, takes it upon himself to raise them - albeit a little wild and kinda animal-like. Suraj Singh lives with his widowed mother in a small hut in a Bombay city slum. He cannot stand injustice in any form and manner, and this places him in the bad books of Police Inspector Shankar Shrivastav . One day Suraj comes across an older male named Zorawar he feels sorry for him, and brings him home to live with them. What Suraj does not know that Zorawar is a former jailbird, who has completed his sentence - which was for multiple murders and a rape of a woman named Gauri Shrivastav, who had vowed to kill Zorawar by any means possible. Although Gauri is no longer alive, her vow to avenge the death of her Police Inspector brother, and her rape, are still alive and raging in Shankar. To complicate matters further Suraj finds out that his mother, Padmini, is having an affair with Zorawar. What will Suraj do under these circumstances, will he take steps to oust Zorawar and alert Shankar?

Barely in his teens, Sonu works as a servant in the palatial house of Mr. Nath, his wife and step-daughter, Nisha. One day while ironing Nisha's birthday dress, Sonu accidentally burns it, earning the wrath of Nath, who places the burning iron on Sonu's back. Thereafter Sonu is arrested by the Police and taken away. Years later, Sonu has grown up, calls himself Shankar, and makes a living as a bounty hunter.

Shanker is jailed for theft and there meets with Tony, who introduces him to professional boxing, after witnessing him fight an inmate. When he gets out of jail, Shanker takes up professional boxing.

Arun Dev(Om Puri) is a famous criminal lawyer who always tries to plead against criminals. He lives happily with his wife Nisha(Kashmira Shah), sister Pooja(Shalini Kapoor) and his friend Kartar Singh(Gulshan Grover). Before few years he fight in court against an hardcore criminal Dusyanti Kumar (Mithun Chakraborty) in a rape trial and sent him into the prison. After releasing from jail Dushyanti started to take revenge to Arun's family. Dushyanti befriended with his sister Pooja and threat Arun but Arun make her aware about Dushyanti. Dushyanti continuously disturbing Arun's family life without leaving any evidence. He also killed Kartar Singh while Kartar tried to protest him. Helpless Arun goes to police but all in vein.

After a young man is killed in custody, Inspector Arjun Singh is transferred to the small town of Tehsil, where his new neighbours happen to be the family of the young man who died.

Story of love and war

Thanedaar is a 1990 Hindi action film directed by Raj N. Sippy and starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Jeetendra, Jaya Pradha and Kiran Kumar. The film is perhaps most remembered for the hit song Tamma Tamma Loge and its quirky dancing moves. It was the first pairing of Dutt and Dixit who went on to star in 7 films together including big box office successes Saajan (1991) and Khalnayak (1993).

Inspectors Amar (Dharmendra) and Dayal (Raza Murad) in their attempt to arrest bandit Sher Singh (Amrish Puri),, get injured, Amar survives, but Dayal gets his legs crushed and becomes wheelchair-bound. Later, Amar arrests local politician Jagannath Prasad (Kader Khan), who gets released without being charged while Amar gets reprimanded, and decides to resign. Later, Sher Singh hijacks a bus and holds the passengers as hostages in exchange for 25 of his jailed associates. Dayal's granddaughter, Seema (Mandakini), is amongst them, and Dayal asks Amar for assistance. Amar, along with ex-convict, Qasim Ali (Shatrughan Sinha), and Karan (Karan Kapoor), a drug-dealer, does manage to rescue them but differences crop up among the trio and they part ways. Then Amar finds out that Qasim and Karan have masterminded a plan to facilitate the escape of the 25 convicts, and decides to confront them.
