A boy, waiting for a bus. A dog, begging for potato chips. The boy sends the dog away, violently. He sees a hangnail on his finger and shows us, graphically, why you should never pick at them.

A rag doll fights a monster that has been stealing the souls of his people. This film was Shane Acker's thesis project at UCLA film school. 11 min short, not to be confused with the 79 min 2009 feature version.

When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good.
