Diana Krall - Live In Rio
Diana Krall has had a long time fascination with bossa nova, a type of music which perfectly suits her sophisticated yet sensual style. This culminated in her new studio album "Quiet Nights" (released by Verve in spring 2009) and in this stunning concert filmed in the home of the bossa nova, Rio de Janeiro, in November 2008. Accompanied by her band and an orchestra, Diana Krall delivers a superb set of standards in true bossa nova style but clearly bearing her unique stamp. This DVD captures Diana Krall at her scintillating best.

Filmed in high definition 3D, this set brings together the Experience Montreux film plus concert performances from the Montreux Jazz Festival by Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones and the Global Gumbo All-Stars. Experience Montreux, filmed at the 44th Festival in 2010, contains full live tracks by a range of artists that reflects the breadth and eclecticism of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The performances are interspersed with interviews with festival founder Claude Nobs and many of the artists involved and are accompanied by stunning footage of the festival setting, the town of Montreux, Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock have both been frequent visitors to Montreux over the years and it s fitting that their performances form a part of this 3D celebration of the magic of the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Recorded at London's Brixton Academy in 2004, Dido Live draws on material from 1999 debut No Angel and 2003 follow-up Life for Rent. As she notes early in the show, "It's very nice to be in a place where I've seen hundreds and thousands of gigs." Dido and five-piece band--including two percussionists--proceed to execute a tight 14-song set, touching on favorites like "Thank You".
A live performance by Radiohead of their 2007 album In Rainbows. This was their first of two full-episode performances, filmed at Maida Vale Studios in London, as part of the ‘From the Basement’ television series produced by Nigel Godrich, Dilly Gent, James Chads and John Woollcombe.
Filmed over two nights at the iconic Royal Opera House in London, Inner Sanctum presents Pet Shop Boys in a spectacular live electronic extravaganza.
First DVD release from this refreshingly basic UK music programme puts the music in the foreground with an impressive role call of acts. With sparse production and no filler (no host, no audience, just artist centre stage), From The Basement's eclectic line-up reads like a contemporary alternative who's who; The White Stripes, Sonic Youth, Albert Hammond Jnr., The Shins, Beck, Damien Rice, Jose Gonzalez, Thom Yorke, Super Furry Animals, and more.
Tracks: Hunter, Come To Me, All Neon Like, You’ve Been Flirtin, Isobel, Immature, Play Dead, Alarm Call, Human Behaviour, Bachelorette, Hyper Ballad, Pluto, Anchor Song, Joga. A fantastic live performance caught of Bjork live at Cambridge in 1998.
The studio concert was recorded at Air Studios, the legendary recording studio in London, with the concept of performing the songs for the first time from Hikaru Utada’s brand-new album "BAD MODE", releasing on January 19. Performing the majority of songs from an album on the very day of its release will be a first for Hikaru Utada. For this performance, Utada gathered a group of renowned musicians led by bassist Jodi Milliner, the band master for their tour in 2018. The session is recorded and mixed by sound engineer Steve Fitzmaurice, who also worked on the new album.
Shot in London during the 2000 world tour, Brutally Live showcases Alice Cooper doing what he's been doing better than anyone else over the past 25 years: turning a rock concert into a campy theatrical extravaganza. That he's old enough to be almost anyone in the audience's (grand?)father is quite beside the point. For Alice remains one of the few who knows that rock & roll should be fun, even if that means severed heads, gushing blood, and murdered babies. Even the fabled guillotine, from his heyday a quarter-century ago, makes an appearance. Alice also takes a shot at Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osbourne, and Kiss by calling them "my undisciplined children."
