Based on a novel by Fakir Baykurt, the film covered issues of an unwanted pregnancy in a small farming village and addressed numerous moral and social issues.
The film traces the life of Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe, a Zeybek (active as an outlaw in the region enclosing İzmir, Aydın, Denizli, Muğla and Antalya in modern western Turkey, from 1893 to 1910) whose father, Çakırcalı Koca Ahmet Efe was murdered by an Ottoman sergeant.
A lawyer, Hüseyin Avni, falls in love with the singer Melek. He follows her performances and cover her with gifts. Still, Melek is hesitant.
