Two brothers are torn apart after finding out they will inherit few millions from their father.
Young mothers and sometimes also their daughters have vastly travelled from Vipavska valley to Egypt in 20th century. Their families were poor and needed money. So they went to Alexandria and worked as wet nurses and helpers for wealthier people. They often left their own kids alone with their fathers, only taking care for them with gifts and money. Many never returned and even if they did, they were not well accepted.
Duša is a young dancer and dance instructor. Torn between a dominant mother, an absent father and a married lover, she is sinking into a typical crisis of the thirties, which gets worse when she starts suspecting that someone has been following her and invading her privacy.
Goran is a literary student who writes erotic stories to support himself is introduced to Carmen, who was born in extramarital relationship of an opera singer. Goran tries to get rid her of drugs and prostitution. Deeply depressed Carmen blames his mother for her own misery, which gets even worse after her death.
