A pair of aspiring mystery novelists realize they know next to nothing about crime and decide to live their adventures venturing out into the big bad world. The boys pose as a cop and a criminal and quickly get in way over their heads.

After her mother's death, New York City fashion designer Lisa Rayborn (Natasha Henstridge) returns to her hometown and family farm. Due to a weak economy, her brother Jim (Harry Hamlin) has converted the family business from a cattle farm into a sheep farm, despite their father's (Lawrence Dane) objections. To help out, Lisa decides she will stay to help on the farm. She adopts a border collie from the local animal shelter and trains it as a sheepdog, naming the dog Lucky. Jim and Lisa decide to enter Lucky into a sheep herding contest, but when a severe thunderstorm sparks a forest fire, Lucky helps rescue trapped children and bring them to safety. While doing so, Lucky gets her leg burned, and it looks as if she will not be able to compete.

Sensing that Joe is still very much in love with his wife, Rebecca agrees to work temporarily as the family’s nanny until Christmas. To Rebecca’s delight, by healing Joe and Lucy’s family, she shows Santa that Christmas miracles are still possible and his job’s more important than ever!

Denise's job at the Tribune isn't as glamorous as it sounds, especially since the only writing she does is for obituaries. But her life gets a jolt of excitement when she stumbles upon a murder scene involving someone whose death announcement she's already read! As Denise gets pulled deeper into the investigation, things become even more creepy and unbelievable. But she'd better be careful — or the next obit may be her own!
