Muthu Pandi, a village strongman, decides to marry Dhanalakshmi, and begins his quest by eliminating everyone who opposes their union - starting with both her brothers. A police officer faces challenges from his family, gangsters and politicians and what happens in the end forms the crux of the story.
Dhil is the story about Kanagavel (Vikram) whose only dream is to become a police officer. He succeeds in passing the exams and wins a girlfriend (Laila). One night after having dinner at a restaurant near the beach Velu goes to pay the bill leaving Laila behind. At that moment a corrupt police officer Shankar (Ashish Vidyarti) drinks and urinates besides Laila. Irritated, she scolds him. He attempts to rape her but is beaten up by Velu severely and receives a scar on his face. Angered by this he seeks revenge against Velu.
A son sets out to look for the man responsible for his father's disappearance, which is connected to a stolen diamond. Eventually, he steals the villain's diamond and also runs away with his sister.
Bangaram(pawan kalyan) is a reporter at a news channel. He dreams of getting into an international news channel of BBC. To fulfill his own dream he ends up at Peddi Reddy (Mukesh Rishi) who is a factionist. He needs Peddi's signature to get his dream fulfilled but in the meanwhile he gets entangled with Peddi"s daughter Sandhya(Meera chopra)and Vindhya(Sanusha). Later Bhooma Reddy(Ashutosh Rana) wins over Peddi's heart and is able to convince him to marry Sandhya to him. But Sandhya has already got her own love story with Vinay(Raja).
Arumugham (Vikram) is an uneducated, good hearted, helpful village hick. Easwari (Jyothika) is his childhood friend. A chemical factory in the village pollutes the local river and when all attempts to stop the factory waste from going to the drinking water falls flat, the villagers decide to send Arumugham to Chennai and meet the concerned minister who has won from their constituency. He sets out for the city with Easwari and her grandmother and they stay with Arumugham's friend (Vivek) and gang.
