After 25 years in exile, undercover cop Frank Riva comes back in Paris. He faces mob boss Norbert Loggia and his son Maxime, who put a bounty on his head during the French Connection days.

Yann (Giraudeau) leads a seemingly happy life with his two children and a beautiful, loving, dynamic woman Julianne (Boisson). Yet he is unhappy. For ten years, he has dreamed of writing a great novel that wins the Prix Goncourt, but all he gets on paper is the adventures of the Hippopoum TV figure and he flies away in the alcohol. One day Julianne is the Norwegian bushes of masculine pleasure and she pulls out with the director of a TV station. A disaster for Yann, because she leaves their children behind him and he is not able to take care of them.

On the platform of a train station, the pretty Laurence is waiting for her fiancé. They have planned to go to Venice, but the young woman waits for hours for Prince Charming, who never comes. Meanwhile, Bruno Lombart, who lives on petty theft, has decided to lock his son Timothée in Laurence's apartment. The little boy's mission is to steal as many objects as possible. When the young woman returns home, disappointed, she is surprised to find little Timothy! He explains to her that if he doesn't bring back any booty from his expedition, he will be beaten. Out of pity, Laurence gives him a few trinkets, then drops him off in the street after having given him her coordinates...
