One stressful morning, like every other morning, Cristina suddenly stops in the doorway. She is unable to take the step that would lead her out of the house.
Alone in his kitchen in Bucharest, Dorel prepares for what seems to be a party. Actually, it’s his son’s wedding which takes place in the United States. Dorel is going to watch the wedding through a webcam, together with two of his son’s friends. On a small screen, they are about to meet the bride and her father, and witness the ceremony.
Tired of waiting for love to happen to her Clara (33) decides to make it happen. Passive and kind, Vlad (31) is the perfect partner. Her project? To live the perfect love. Her inspiration? Books, films and folklore. On their first date they plan their perfect love like a project with clear checkpoints. Then they start to play. For a while they are happy. But he hates being alone more than he loves her. This makes her fearful and anxious, and probing his love with little games. He tries to be patient and console her but finally breaks into anger. In desperation she goes swimming far into the sea to test him. He barely manages to save her from drowning. He decides to break up but before, they go to the countryside and play a game becoming fantastic characters from a Romanian fairytale. Fantasy takes over and they will emerge from it more mature. Acting out stops here?
When a flood strikes Costache's village in Romania, his wife Maria and all of their possessions are swept away. Now in a village shelter, Costache refuses to sell his land and move onward. He has plans to re-build and refuses help and advice from his neighbors. The village is all he has left, except for an estranged son now living in Tokyo. But when his son Ticu hears of his mother's death and father's plight, he arrives unexpectedly with his Japanese wife and son to bring Costache back home with him. This will not be simple. Ticu fled Romania with many issues left unresolved, the biggest being his relationship with his father. Now there is a whole new family for Costache to deal with, old scores to settle, and painful goodbyes to say.
Ileana gives up trying to heal her sleepwalking condition and decides to embrace the sleepwalker inside. With her lover, Lia, as a guide, she stumbles upon a fairytale ending.
