The Sanyals are a large extended family composed of the nonagenarian grandfather, (Haradhan Banerjee), his son (Ranjit Mallick), daughter-in-law (Laboni Sarkar) who rules over the house like a female Hitler, reincarnated, and their children of whom two, a daughter (Koel Mallick) and son (Rishi Kaushik) live together in a beautiful mansion in Bhawanipur. There seems to be more servants in their house than family members, extending the virtues and parameters of the ideal ‘joint’ family. The film starts with everyone being excited about the return of the elder son (Babul Supriyo) from US, where he had gone for some business related work. However, all hell breaks loose, when he returns with a wife (Rituparna Sengupta) and her child from a former marriage in tow.

Starring Uttam Kumar in a double role. One is the unruly, rich and spoilt brat who is killed by his enemies, while the other, a good guy, reaches the dead man's house and is compelled to take his place

Synopsis::: The movie narrates the tragic life story of Roshanbai and how she triumphs over the insensitive society. Roshanbai used to visit the bathing ghat every morning where she could hear the prayers of a brahmin. Roshan fell for him and decided to leave her profession. She wished to start a fresh life with the brahmin. She showered Sohanlal, the agent with money so that he would free her from the profession. One day Roshan pretending to be a destitute brahmin girl won the brahmin’s attention and he gave her shelter. She was content with her new life at the brahmin’s place.

Rajni next visit is scheduled for Durga Pooja, but she does not come, instead she comes at Vijay Dashami, to stay there for a couple nights, before going on a Tirth Yatra with her family, where they are scheduled to visit all the holy places in India namely, Benaras, Gaya, Mathura, Vrindavan, Hardwar, Nasik, Hrishikesh, Dwarka, Rameshwaram, Kamakshya, Puri, and Konarak.

Amarnath falls in love with Beeni Mukherjee, who is a good student, has an elder dominating sister, Saraswati, who is brilliant. Kedar is attracted to Saraswati but lacks the courage to approach her. Then some of his friends introduce him as a brilliant student and athlete to Saraswati's dad, who approves of him. Kedar meets with Saraswati, who also approves of him, and both are slowly drawn to each other. It will not be long before Saraswati finds out that Kedarnath is a fraud, will give up on him, and get ready to marry a wealthy Bhagalpur-based man of her father's choice.
