A deeply suspenseful drama in which a young lawyer who survived the murder of his family 30 years ago confronts a criminal on death row. Thirty years ago, a family of three was slaughtered. Facing the death row convict accused of the crime is young lawyer Yusuke Asari (Hideaki Takizawa). Yusuke has been retained by a woman who wants him to request a retrial for the death row convict. The death row convict is none other than Kozo Yanase (Kenichi Endo), who killed Yusuke's parents and grandfather. Yusuke thus finds himself in the difficult position of requesting a retrial for the man who killed his own immediate family... As he goes over the accident, a series of shocking facts come to light one after the other. All these facts are somehow related to Yusuke, .and lead him to find the answer to the question: "Who am I?" His sense of duty as a lawyer and his emotions as a lonely man are put to the test. What awaits him once he overcomes bewilderment, conflict, and pain? How strong is a person’s love for one’s family and parents? What must we do to honor those we love? What is the final destination of Yusuke’s journey of self discovery?
One night, Amemura Shinsuke, a bartender at a Nishi Azabu bar in Tokyo, is attacked by a male stranger and loses a part of his memories. However, he soon learns that he caused the death of a woman called Kishinaka Minae in a traffic accident one and a half years ago. And the man who came to attack him and later committed suicide, was her husband Reiji. For some reason, Shinsuke is frequently advised by the people around him that it is better not to recall bad things. He begins to have misgivings about the truth of the accident. Then when Shinsuke returns to the bar on one rainy night, Ruriko, a woman in mourning clothes and of unwordly beauty, shows up all of a sudden. From the time of her appearance, Shinsuke descends into a world of madness and anguish. Does she truly exist or is she a figment of imagination conjured by a guilty conscience?
Suzuki Kanna is a powerhouse woman with single-minded devotion once she puts her mind to something. Twenty-four-year-old country bumpkin Aiko is a new teacher who has arrived at a new town and a new primary school. When nervous she blurts out her local dialect. This seals her nickname and reputation. Nonetheless, she is determined and strives to do her best for her students. She is an inspiration soon.
Reporters Takehara and Tsumura Aki work for the magazine "Shukan Dodongo". Their chief editor tells them to monitor Okase Shohei who is an ex-bureaucrat and was recently released from prison. 7 years ago, Shohei was arrested for embezzling 1 billion yen. The investigation seven years ago was able to track down 700 million yen but unable to locate the remaining 300 million yen. Now, the chief editor is sure Shohei will go to wherever the remaining 300 million yen is hidden.
On September 9th, the day of the Katakai Fireworks Festival, high school student Hana comes home from the hospital after six months of treatment for leukemia. She then discovers that her older brother Taro has become a social recluse. Taro used to be tender, smart and proud of his younger sister, but now he even turns his back on her and stays in his room. With Hana's help Taro slowly opens up to the world again. Then, with winter approaching, Hana has a relapse with her leukemia. Taro comes to the hospital everyday to visit Hana and soon learns that the Katakai Fireworks Festival is a symbol of happiness for Hana. Taro then takes the initiative to make Hana happy and approaches the town's youth group once more for admittance.
The wife had only wished for one thing, and one thing only... But when she realized that her wish would not come true, she began plotting a dreadful revenge on her husband. Married to a beautiful wife from rich family and running his own café business which he started after leaving a major advertising agency, Mochizuki Kohei seemed to lead a picture-perfect life that anyone would be envious of. However, underneath the surface, Kohei was tired of having to do things to please his overly-controlling, manipulative wife Maria. To put an end to his misery, Kohei decides to kill his wife Maria and plots a murder with his lover. One day, as he comes home and finds what appears to be blood on the floor. Maria, however, is nowhere to be seen. Kohei then becomes the suspect in her possible murder.
