Started during a residency at the Experimental Television Center in upstate New York in 1982, Nancy Buchanan’s Tech-Knowledge brings together video footage of technology used in a variety of fields—everything from agriculture and food production to communications and video games—as people in voice-over discuss the social, economic, and political dynamics of these technologies.
Experimental video about child abuse. McCarthy: "I was given access to a community television studio for two days of shooting and one day of editing. I had been given the grant based on a proposal to do a video tape on child abuse. I taped for one day alone and one day with Mike Kelley. I asked Mike Kelley to be the son and I would be the father. There was no written script. After taping for two days, I edited the tapes, making two separate tapes: Family Tyranny and Cultural Soup. They are often shown together."
In an homage to Walter Benjamin and his essay The work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction, Buchanan's video questions how image processing transforms the role of the artist in society, as well as the nature of contemporary society itself, by juxtaposing images of the making and eating of a television-shaped cake, distorted text from writers Georgi Plekhanov and Herbert Marcuse, and footage of herself working.
A man makes soup with mayonnaise and dolls. McCarthy: "I was given access to a community television studio for two days of shooting and one day of editing. Girl, knife and doll come together in this controversial dramatization of the original early 1990s Tribe 8 queer punk band "Masochist Medley" stage act featuring San Francisco drag king Marya's legendary stage performance as Uncle Rod.
Hold your breath for this tempestuous ride through bondage, suspension and the power of the mind. Electrical impulses produce reactionary states in this adrenaline-packed spectacle, as charged sonic frequencies express various states of embodied dissonance and willful determination. Fight or Flight features a bound figure in flight, held in position by an unrevealed source. This unknown source points to whether or not the figure is in a consensual position with the goal of addressing what one may feel bound or liberated by, and what choices may be involved in those conditions. The universality of experiencing internal and external limitations, discomfort and anxiety in one's own skin and the trappings of mind contrasted by determination and liberation of spirit is explored.

Cultural boundries dissolve, and the family of a man struggle to reinvent itself within a new cultural context. Mr. Ahmed is the story of such a conflict - the old and new world: India and America. This simple, yet poignant drama, paints a portrait of a man caught between two worlds. As memories of a home and family left behind seep to the surface, the collision of the old and new world forces his life into a critical turn, and an act, which could destroy both of them. "an enigmatic masterpiece"

Slovenian experimental film by Zmago Lenardič. In the video, the author presents documentary-experimental footage of the erupting volcano Etna in Sicily. The scene is almost static, showing a volcano that was active again after a long period, and the author found himself at the foot of the mountain at that time. Video defines a kinematic experience supported by dramatic music from which media space-time emerges.
