Despite Jim and Christine's efforts to spend some time alone, various shenanigans and schemes interfere.

Two novice thieves are plotting to rob a bank in Vancouver. A photographer snaps a shot of one thief as he is carrying the bank building's blueprints. The would-be thief then begins a relationship with the photographer and attempts to retrieve the photos. Meanwhile, the thieves' plot consists of this: one man will enter the bank building after dark, while the other man sits in a van and uses a computer to unlock the building's doors. The final step involves transporting the cash to a freight ship waiting on the docks, for transportation to a money launderer in Macau.

To a family whose children are traumatized by the death of their mother, help comes in a most bizarre way. They receive three pieces, that when joined together, give a recording for an offer for an electric grandmother. They go to a bizarre factory, where they customize their new grandmother, and within a short time, she arrives. The android is equipped with everything needed as a parent and the boys are charmed. The daughter, however, still misses her mother and she bears no welcome for this interloper.

A woman's husband apparently has deserted her and their daughter. So she decides to get on with her life which might include dissolving their union and seeing someone else. However, her in-laws, her husband's parents feel that she's acting very hastily, so she leaves their home with her daughter whom they love very much. She decides to limit their access to her daughter, but grandfather and granddaughter see each other on the sly.

Marcus (Michael Brandon), a nice, rich, Jewish boy from New York, meets and falls in love with Jennifer (Tippy Walker), a girl from Oyster Bay, while they are both in Venice. He follows her to her home on Long Island and ultimately to the top of a high-rise on the New Jersey Palisades, where begins a romantic reminiscence in extended flashbacks, that ultimately leads to tragedy. Noel Black ("Pretty Poison") directed the film, and Erich Segal ("Love Story") wrote it. Robert De Niro has a small role as a gypsy cab driver.
