The Stranger: In Memory Alone

Former UNIT scientist Liz Shaw investigates a series of bizarre murders near a soon-to-be closed psychiatric hospital. When the hospital is suddenly saved by a wealthy businessman events seem to run out of Liz's control.

Bill Baggs first met JNT as a fan at the BBC Dr Who Production Office in the 80's. He later worked with JNT on various projects. Bill conducted this interview as part of the BBV dvd '30 Years of Time Travel & Beyond' produced in 1995. In the recording sequence of filming, Bill conducted this interview last in order to give John the opportunity to respond to criticisms from other contributors. The cafe where it was filmed was local to JNT in Saltdean, near Brighton where he was a regular visitor. When Bill first approached Jon about the documentary, John was initially resistant to take part, asking why he'd been left until last. However, once Bill explained the logic of 'save the best 'til last' John agreed.

The Airzone Solution takes place in a future Britain where pollution has reached a point where the populace must often wear filtration masks when they venture outside. AirZone, a powerful corporation, signs a lucrative deal with the government to deal with the problem. The public is told that AirZone plans to build giant filtration plants to clean the atmosphere, but environmentalists are skeptical, especially when people begin dying and disappearing around AirZone facilities.

When Liz Shaw returns from a working holiday in Spain a new and deeply disturbing case awaits. Corporal 7891Alpha has outlived his usefulness or rather the government can no longer afford to fund the medication. And that can mean only one thing... termination! At first glance a 'government authorised execution' is a simple enough task for the Preternatural Research Bureau (PROBE) team. But as events unfold, and the truth about Corporal 7891Alpha is revealed, the case becomes far more complex. Only Liz's wealth of experience, courage and determination can save the day - but not before her her moral compass is knocked off course.
