One of the rooms inside the legendary Barba Azul Cabaret has become a shelter for the girls working there: the women's bathroom. Every night La Mami, who's in charge of the bathrooms, offers them the warmth and the advice they need to take on the challenge they face in the dance hall.
El Remolino is a tiny community on the banks of the widest river in Mexico, it is home to unusual characters whose lives oscillate between an attachment to the paradise like surroundings and the uncertainty that looms year after year, when high floods cover their community. El Remolino is a reflection upon the human capacity to adapt and coexist with nature's changes.
Violence and societal prejudice against women are part of the weight that Melissa lifts in her training sessions. She lives in a chauvinist society that punishes women who dare to defy their role. In the street and in the ring she is constantly facing demands, harassment, and guilt, but she will carry on fighting and challenging people with her motto: "Are you going to shout at me or what?"
