A group of Christian and Muslim warriors enter the forests of the pagan Pyrenees to try to recover the magnificent treasure that Charlemagne lost in the battle of Roncesvalles. They will be guided by an enigmatic girl from the area, Irati, who will immerse them in "a strange and ancient mythological world" where "everything that has a name exists".

Basque Country, Spain, 1843. A police constable arrives at a small village in Álava to investigate a mysterious blacksmith who lives alone deep in the woods.
