A short film about Lapland
Based on short stories by early 20th century feminist writer Maria Jotuni, the film is a series of lively dialogue scenes between men and women, young and old, living in a small Finnish town. Most episodes evolve into humorous battles between the sexes. The film's central character is a young maid played by Maija Karhi.
Pirita and Aslak are newly married. However, Aslak is a shepherd and his work takes him away from home for long periods of time, leaving his wife lonely and heartbroken. In an effort to tempt him back, Pirita visits the local shaman, with unexpected and deadly results.
Miss Europe Hunting (1955) is a romantic comedy directed by Erik Blomberg and co-written with Lars-Eric Malmlund, which utilizes material recorded during the Miss Europe competitions held in Finland. The story follows the career and relationship development of bird photographer Antero Lintunen (Lasse Pöysti) and American journalist Evelyn McNutty (Lippe Hokkanen). In the path signified by coincidences and misunderstandings, they also find each other.
