Two friends spend a summer day together in the suburbs of Montreal. As the evening comes, they go to the fireworks hoping to be entertained but the event ends up igniting memories of a different nature.
Two police officers, Catherine and Patrick, patrol in Longueuil, a suburb of Montreal in Canada. During their shift, they arrest Jose Maria, a Mexican illegal immigrant who just crossed the border. The officers hold him at their station during the night, while waiting for the arrival of the federal police, the RCMP.
George Édouard is a janitor at the Montréal Polytechnique. The only other person he meets at night is a PhD student in physics, Audrey. They often meet to talk about music and science. One day George Édouard sees the return of his long-lost brother, René. The latter attended an exorcism. A ghost of the earthquake in Haiti has haunted him since.
Following the election of a nationalistic government, a man decides to sell everything to return to Viet-Nâm. But his ex-stepson comes to him for help, bringing along an abandoned child. Together, these three men must live together for a few weeks.
