Set over the course of an evening, a mother remembers moments from a game she played with her son throughout his childhood. Tragedy strikes when he unexpectedly returns.

Sam, a nine year old boy, makes a solitary journey to school through the stark landscape near the commission flats where he lives. The imaginary world, as told by a far-away older male storyteller, his only solace. An encounter with two young teenagers presents both a temptation and a threat to Sam.

Actor Darren McWarren (Jason Gann) starred in soap, mini-series and film before destroying his career with a series of indiscretions. Now McWarren is out of the industry and living in a small town in Western Victoria he can do whatever he wants. When a journalist decides to write a "Where are they now" profile on McWarren, he finds the former star has become a modern day Errol Flynn. The local girls want to fornicate with him and their fellas want to fight him. He mightn't have found love - but it's the next best thing.

When a strange loner comes in to town, a bloody encounter with the local youth will reveal the true nature of what it means to be human.
