Trusting in the power of observation, the documentary looks at the building of scenes, with Baumbach interacting with cast and crew, fielding questions and finding the heart of the moment. This is no talking head journey, just raw, uncut professionalism, and it's a thrill to watch.

An alternate American history told through the eyes of a working-class Jewish family in New Jersey, as they watch the political rise of Charles Lindbergh, an aviator-hero and xenophobic populist, who becomes president and turns the nation toward fascism.
