The story revolves around the sentimental attachment of a family towards a cot that has been passed through the family for three generations. It has been their family’s companion through their ups and downs for around 250 years and everyone are attached to it emotionally. It has survived as a unperishable common identity link or reference passed from one generation to the next within the family. It was a place for last breadth for some and first breadth for some. Thus, the non living entity becomes a living one among the family members by the memories itched by it in their minds.The screenplay is based on how the antique cot , which the family emotionally revere lose it and how they struggle to recover the same , whether they succeed or lose it forever ,is the question which is answered in the plot.

Prabhu goes to meet Shruthi, and is where he will find evidence that will lead him to a terrorist responsible for planting killing people. The local village president has an eye for the heroine and acts as barrier to their love. How these two dancers succeed in their love is hold in a entertaining manner with some nice comedies and interesting twists in the screen play. One of the main highlight of the film is the comedy track of Goundamani and Senthil. This film has famous banana comedy which is still one of the best comedy in kollywood. Nombarathi Poovu movie is all about the deep relation between Gigi and Padmini. The movie shows how a young woman Padmini who is separated from her husband gets attached to a young orphan girl Gigi when they meet in a hospital during their stay after a bus accident. Gigi has lost her mother in the accident and Padmini decides to take Gigi with her. Gigi is not completely mentally stable and is a special needs child. Padmini brings Gigi to Dr. Padmanabhan who after initial apprehension accepts Gigi in his institute as a student by the day. Padmini's separated husband Sethu is still trying to win her back. The viewers are shown that Padmini separated from her husband because she lost her children due to an episode of reckless motorcycle riding from husband. Padmini decides to go back to Sethu and adopt Gigi as their daughter. However Gigi's special behavior annoys Sethu and Gigi starts to feel insecure about losing her mother again.

Achuthan Kutty (Mohanlal) is a police officer investigating the murder of a famous writer and film director Hairkrishnan (Mammootty). On finding a slipper and handkerchief at the crime spot, the police suspect the murderer to be a woman. From talking to Harikrishnan's estranged wife (Jalaja) they come to know that he had had several extra-marital affairs. Achuthan shares details of the investigation to his brother Anilkumar (Rahman) and Anil's girlfriend Shilpa (Karthika), a devout fan of Harikrishnan. The investigation proceeds to Parvathy (Unnimary), an old colleague of Harikrishnan's, who is now at a Hindu convent. After trying to suppress facts and unconvinced by the answers she gives Achuthan arrests her. Reading the newspaper article about the arrest, Shilpa tells Achuthan that she knows Parvathy as an old time friend of her mother (Sripriya). This leads to surprising revelations that link a lot more people to the investigation.
