This is the third Byomkesh Bakshi film adaptation. Subhrajit Dutta played Byomkesh while Rajarshi Mukherjee played Ajit. Piyali Munsi, Rupanjana Mitra, Gargi Roychowdhury and Biplab Chatterjee acted in other roles.

The story starts with the District magistrate Mr.Mukherjee who lives a blissfully happy existence with his wife, Mira and twin sons Indranath and Chandranath. They decide on a trip to visit Mr.Mukherjee’s native village. An accident happens in the way and they lose their son Chandranath. Chandra was rescued and nursed back to health by a sage who adopts him as his own child. Years later, Chandra comes to the city and is taken advantage of and ill-treated till he meets Bhola, a taxi driver with whom he strikes up an odd friendship .Bhola lets him stay at his own house too. Meanwhile Bhola gets a job as the District magistrate’s personal driver. Here he realises that his boss’s lost son and Chandra are the same person and so brings him back to his parents. The whole family re-unites once again.

Sujay, Ajay and Bijay are three siblings who share a close bond and can go to any length to protect each other. However, when Sujay is killed by his own boss, Bijay sets out to exact revenge.

Meanwhile Bikram's sister's marriage was fixed and an amount of rupees two lakh was needed. Loafer Bikram was offered some money by Tina's father to break his relationship with his daughter.

But when he gets no news of Nandini and her father, he comes back and hears of Budhar’s death. Sukanata keeps searching Nandini but in vain. He gets transferred to Delhi where he catches Mr. Ganguly for corruption in railways. Nandini turns out to be Ganguly’s wife and begs Sukanta to set him free. Sukanta lies in court to save Ganguly. But he is shattered and becomes alcoholic. He meets Ranu, Nandini’s twin sister in Kashi who was forced into prostitution. Ranu falls in love with him. Ranu goes to Delhi to find her twin sister. But, Nandini cares for no one but her family. Sukanta overhears their conversation and decides to start his life again with Ranu.

The film documents one of the largest Indian religious fairs, the Kumbh Mela, which is held at the confluence of the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. The action is seen through the eyes of Shubhendu Chatterjee who has come to the Mela not out of any religious sentiment but to see and understand people and seek the reason why “….multitudes upon multitudes of the old and weak and the young and frail enter without hesitation or complaint upon such incredible journeys and endure the resultant miseries without repining.” (Mark Twain after visiting the 1895 Mela)

The story of an old peasant,Bancharam (Mitra),who defeats the tyrannical landlord Chhakari (Dey).Inheriting a dry patch of land, Bancharam converts it into a fabulous garden.The British magistrate supports him when Chhakari attempts to acquire the garden, after which he dies. Chhakari's son Nakari tries a new stratagem: he promises Bancharam Rs 100 every month provided Bancharam bequeaths his garden to the landowner after his death. Bancharam agrees but amazingly becomes healthier with every passing day, repeatedly promising to die but failing to do so. Come the appointed day, Nakari arrives with the funeral band and finds Bancharam glowing with health. Nakari collapses on the prepared funeral bed and dies instead.
