In the middle of untouched nature, surrounded by forests and grain fields of the Brandenburg province, the fictional village of Unterleuten with only 250 inhabitants is located. Thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall it seems a peaceful place for both locals and newcomers. But the appearance of rural idyll in eastern Germany is deceptive. There are turnaround winners and turnaround losers, friends and enemies, neighbors eyeing each other with suspicion, gossip, old secrets and hidden conflicts. When the mayor puts forward the proposal to have a company build a wind farm with dozen of wind turbines in order to secure the prosperity and future of the locals, the open fight for the only possible piece of land begins, which unfortunately belongs to three different owners. Everyone sees big money for themselves. Alliances are formed and friends become enemies. In addition, an unscrupulous vulture capitalism investor from southern Germany interferes that causes the glass to overflow.

A holiday celebration with the extended family gets stretched to the breaking point in this comedy from Germany. Sara is happily married to Jan, though this wasn't always the case -- Sara is Jan's second wife, while Sara has three ex-husbands, Gunnar, Andi and Erich, and she and Jan are raising children from each of their previous marriages. Jan is less than thrilled with the prospect of spending the holidays with Sara's mother, but things get worse when he learns his wife has planned a surprise for Christmas eve -- they'll be joined by Gunnar, Andi and Erich, as well as Erich's new wife Pauline, Andi's current spouse Rita and his own ex-wife, Eva. To call the atmosphere uncomfortable is an understatement, and things only get worse when Sara announces she's pregnant, which is quite troubling for Jan since he's been waiting for the right time to tell her he had a vasectomy several months before.

Stromberg is a German television series which is produced by Brainpool and broadcast on the commercial television channel ProSieben. The series was proclaimed as a copy of the BBC series The Office, although initially the producers claimed it was based on a character from a past ProSieben comedy, in spite of many elements resembling the The Office. An "inspired by" credit was given to the creators of The Office, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, after the BBC threatened ProSieben with legal action. The first season, which appeared in 2004, was made up of eight episodes. A second season of ten episodes, although not initially planned, was launched on 11 September 2005. A third season of eight episodes was launched on 5 March 2007. A fourth season was launched on 3 November 2009, with the entire season being available on DVD on 6 November. All four seasons can be watched online for free, courtesy of Brainpool.
