The stories of five women very different from each other, yet linked by morbid and violent love experiences, are intertwined in a drama inspired by the collection of short stories by Dacia Maraini published in 2012 by the same title of the film, "Love Stolen ".
France, late 1700s. Leon Dalville is a prince who has it all - good looks, love and wealth. One mysterious night, however, he loses everything. Leon’s cousin Helene, who has always been in love with him, challenges the prince: he must seduce and abandon Bella. But, despite Helene’s cruel and deceitful tricks, Leon falls in love with Bella.

"The Family," an album with a velvet cover, is meant to touch the extended family of man. Formal portraits, bookends in this 80-year saga, enclose the central story, which opens with the baptism of Carlo, a baby in his grandfather's lap, and ends with Carlo as a grandfather with a baby in his arms. And never once do we get out of the house, whose rooms provide the film's structure. Comfort or passion? Carlo couldn't really decide until it was too late.
