Frome’s Cheese & Grain was host to a remarkable surprise Foo Fighters concert last Friday as part of the publicity for their headlining announcement for Glastonbury Festival. The band, arguably the biggest rock band in the world, played an intimate 2.5 hour set to an appreciative crowd of 650. Most of the audience had been selected from the bands fan mailing list in a 50 mile radius of Frome, but a lucky 100 that had assembled outside the venue were allowed in on the night, much to their surprise and delight!

The 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. In this new series, Foo Fighters commemorate their 20th anniversary by documenting the eight-city recording odyssey that produced their latest, and eighth, studio album. Foo Fighters founder Dave Grohl directs the series, which taps into the musical heritage and cultural fabric of eight cities: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington D.C. and New York. The band based themselves at a legendary recording studio integral to the unique history and character of each location. One song was recorded in each city, and every track features local legends. Even the lyrics were developed in an experimental, unprecedented way: Grohl held off on writing them until the last day of each session, letting himself be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process. Foo Fighters have become one of the best bands to rock an arena over their nearly 20-year career. Now you can experience two and a half hours of their powerful live performance from the band’s April 7 headlining set at the Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza. Dave Grohl and his cohorts took to the stage Saturday night for the Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza. The Jockey Club, in Sao Paolo, Brazil saw nearly 70,000 fans during the two-day event. Foo Fighters’ hit-packed set lasted nearly 3-hours — something that has become fairly routine at the band’s concerts. The Brazilian crowd was treated to a barrage of arena-sized rock anthems including ‘Times Like These,’ ‘My Hero,’ ‘Best of You,’ and a cover of ‘I Love Rock and Roll’ with fellow Lollapalooza performer Joan Jett.

“12-12-12” was a fundraising concert to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy, it took place on December 12, 2012 at Madison Square Garden. The band began recording their seventh studio album in August 2010 with producer Butch Vig, who had previously produced the two new tracks for the band's Greatest Hits album. The album was recorded in Dave Grohl's garage using only analog equipment. A documentary on the band's history, Back and Forth, was released theatrically on April 5 along with a live 3-d performance of the album Wasting Light. While most theaters viewed the show in its entirety, some theaters had technical issues and the band rescheduled to have Back And Forth played on April 14, 2011. On April 13, 2011, the band performed the entire album live from Dave Grohl's Studio 606 and uploaded it to YouTube in its entirety.

In a one-time only event commemorating their 15 years as a band and their first ever Greatest Hits compilation, Foo Fighters will perform an exclusive live over the internet concert from the band's own 606 studio complex this Friday October 30th at 7pm (PT) / 10pm (ET). The VH1 Rock Honors were an annual ceremony paying homage to bands who influenced the sound of rock music. The events began in 2006, and the final event took place in 2008. The general format of each show is for modern bands to "pay tribute" to classic greats of the rock/metal world, after which time the artist being paid tribute to plays multiple songs. The 2006 and 2007 shows featured four inductees each, whereas the 2008 show featured one, albeit with multiple bands paying tribute. The shows were directed by David Mallet and produced by Paul Flattery. Currently, VH1 has no plans for a CD or DVD release of any show.

Four on the Floor is the second and final full-length album by Juliette and the Licks. The follow-up to You're Speaking My Language, this album was released on October 2, 2006, in the UK, and later re-released with a bonus DVD featuring documentaries, live performances and music videos. It was released on July 24, 2007, in the US with two bonus tracks. The first single, "Hot Kiss", was released on September 25, 2006, and the second single "Sticky Honey" was released in 2007. A remix of "Inside the Cage" can be heard in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV on the Radio Broker station. Before this album began production, both Jason Morris (drummer) and Paul Ill (bass guitarist) left the band for more 'studio-based' work. Jason Womack recorded bass guitar and Dave Grohl recorded the drums. The new live drummer for the supporting tour was Ed Davis.

Highlighted on the With The Lights Out DVD is a previously unreleased video of nine songs performed in 1988 at bassist Krist Novoselic's mother's house in Aberdeen, Washington; the rare "In Bloom" Sub Pop music video, and 10 never-before-seen live performances. Noteworthy among them are debut renditions of "Pennyroyal Tea", "Smells Like Teen Spirit" both from early 1991. Also premiering is an unlikely performance of Jacques Brel and Rod McKuen's "Seasons In The Sun" shot at a Rio de Janeiro studio.
While planning the eventual DVD release for "1991: The Year Punk Broke", Dave Markey cut a 40-minute film out of unused footage to create a companion piece to include. The film was also shown to a handful of lucky audiences before the DVD's eventual release in 2011. It's an awesome bonus with tons of great footage that could have easily been in the film. These songs were probably the best to leave out of the full-length film, since 2 were brand new and still quite shaky. The only tour staple not accounted for in either film is "Mary-Christ".
