British hard rock will invade the Sunset Stage. After 34 years, Whitesnake returns to the festival, this time for the promotion tour of their new album, “Flesh & Blood”. David Coverdale formed the group in 1978. Since then, the band has topped the charts several times and received countless awards and nominations. What the public will see in the City of Rock, September 28, promises to enter the history of Rock in Rio once again. Here “we” go again, Whitesnake!

Whitesnake revisited the music that singer David Coverdale recorded with Deep Purple in the Seventies when they released The Purple Album. The album, and the tour that followed, offered fans new modern interpretations of Purple classics like "Burn" and "Mistreated." Whitesnake puts their distinctive spin on several songs from Coverdale's studio albums with Deep Purple - Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974), and Come Taste The Band (1975). Highlights include: "You Fool No One," "The Gypsy" and "Soldier Of Fortune."

An exciting archive release from Whitesnake, showing the band in an evolutional phase which would soon seen them reach the incredible success of their 1987 self-titled release. Live In 84 Back To The Bone showcases the fabulous line-up of David Coverdale, John Sykes, Cozy Powell and Neil Murray live at the Super Rock Festival in Japan. Also included, as a very special bonus, the last live performance of Jon Lord with the band, recorded in Sweden. [Lord would reunite with Deep Purple shortly after this performance.] All in all, this is a stunning portrait of a band headed quickly towards their creative and performance peaks! An absolute must have for all Whitesnake and David Coverdale fans.

Deepest Purple: The Very Best of Deep Purple is a compilation album by the British hard rock band Deep Purple, released in 1980. It features the original hits of Deep Purple before their 1984 reunion. Aided by a TV advertising campaign it would become Purple's third UK #1 album. It was at one point the longest album ever released as a single LP, but it was overtaken by Def Leppard's Hysteria album in 1987. This also marked the debut of "Demon's Eye" for the North American release, where it was replaced by "Strange Kind of Woman" on Fireball. All songs from this album later appeared on Rhino's The Very Best of Deep Purple, along with 3 additional songs. All titles composed by Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, except where indicated

Excessive drug use during the '60s and '70s led to all sorts of execrable behaviour from addled musicians who were psychedelically deluded into thinking that making overblown rock operas was a really good idea. While the Beatles’ ill advised Magical Mystery Tour fiasco is likely the worst of these self-indulgent, extremely un-rock and roll epics, having members of Deep Purple convene to record a soundtrack for a kiddie animated cartoon narrated by Vincent Price should also be placed in the “ideas that sound best while tripping on acid” folder. But me, I’m still ready for my flashback. (from: http://www.boxofficeprophets.com/hyde/wishlist2003.asp)
