Often described as an unofficial sequel to Scum – Winstone's main character Steve is fresh from Borstal - the rather gentler-toned That Summer holds special memories for Ray as he met his future wife Elaine during filming. It also notched him his first major award nomination, in the BAFTAs' now-defunct category 'Most Promising Newcomer to a Leading Film Role'. (He was one of two "losers", the other being a Sigourney Weaver for Alien!) The Torquay-set Last Summer follows a pair of northern lasses who travel south to work as hotel chambermaids - where they meet rough-diamond Steve and enjoy various scrapes and adventures as he prepares for an around-the-bay swimming contest. A nostalgic snapshot of late-1970s Britain, as seen through the 'outsider' eyes of San Diego-born, Chicago-raised Cokeliss.
Orlando is forced to work like a servant for his brother Oliver, so he goes to win his fortune in a wrestling contest, where he meets a lady of the court, Rosalind. Rosalind (daughter of the deposed duke) is companion to Celia, niece of the deposed Duke, and when the current duke banishes Rosalind from the kingdom, she, Celia, the court jester (and incidentally Orlando) all end up in the forest or Arden, where the deposed Duke holds court. Romantic mixups, cross-dressing, love poems nailed to trees, and a lion await them all.
Softly, Softly: Task Force is a police based drama series which ran on BBC 1 from 1969 to 1976. It was a revamp of Softly, Softly, itself a spin-off from Z-Cars. The change was made partly to coincide with the coming of colour broadcasting to the BBC's main channel BBC1. The programme was due to be called simply Task Force, but reluctant to sacrifice a much-loved brand the BBC compromised this so it became Softly, Softly: Task Force.
Softly, Softly is a British television drama series, produced by the BBC and screened on BBC 1 from January 1966. It centred around the work of regional crime squads, plain-clothes CID officers based in the fictional region of Wyvern, supposedly in the Bristol area of England.
