Salamanca, Spain, 1936. In the early days of the military rebellion that began the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), writer Miguel de Unamuno supports the uprising in the hope that the prevailing political chaos will end. But when the confrontation becomes bloody, Unamuno must question his initial position.
A small village in Huelva, Andalusia, Spain, 1936. Higinio and Rosa have been married only for a few months when the Civil War breaks out. Higinio, being afraid of possible reprisals from the rebel faction, decides to use a hole dug in his own house as a temporary hideout.
A group of men are searching for something in the desert. Only one of them knows what they seek. The one they call the Master. Searching in the desert is a dangerous activity. In addition to the dry, bleak landscape and the unrelenting heat of the sun, the one they call the Baptist haunts the dunes. A fool who fell from believer to murderer, the Baptist is enlightened in the ways of both. The men are unsure if they are searching for god or for death.. or if both of these things are the same.
A family leaves for an overdue trip, leaving the Old Man behind, alone in their modern home. An everyday, common situation that will end in a complete nightmare due to an unexpected and far-fetched event.
