Brazil is huge, made of an extremely colorful mix of races, origins, ideas and cultures. Now it has come to a boil: the country torn apart by political, and religious conflicts, our forests burnt down and razed to the ground, "minorities" persecuted, and part of the population arming itself on the expectation of something wicked coming our way in the most polarized election ever.

A melancholic, aspiring writer and bookseller is shaken by the appearances and disappearances of his newfound muse who steals books from his bookstore. When he discovers that she also steals from other bookstores, he is consumed with jealousy and starts living in a kind of love delirium, on the border between fiction and reality. The closer he gets to her, the more indescribable she becomes and he begins to wonder why she steals, what are her values and who is the older man she lives with. In the end, what is real and what isn’t? And will he find a place in her life as he moves away from his own?

In a middle-class school the story of the relationship between two young students, Ana and Alex, develops. A passion relationship, addiction and friendship that escapes the standards and at the same time is the translation of how young people today relate, among them, with other generations, with the institutions and social rules.

In an empty city, scorched by the sun, the young and old confuse the fever of sunstroke with the delicate birth of passion. Like ghosts, they hover around buildings and endless flatlands in search of the ever elusive love. Inspired by 19th century Russian short stories, the plots weave and unravel together in the improbable city of Brasilia – a distorted mirror-image of the Soviet utopia – located in the heart of the Brazilian desert.
