For more than ten years, the Viennese children's book dealer Felice Frank has not heard from Alexander Helsing, the father of her little daughter Lilli. All the more surprised is the young woman, when she suddenly learns of the death of Alexander. But not only that: at the opening of the will in Hamburg, it turns out that the deceased bequeathed all his company shares in the family large shipping company to his daughter Lilli - and to the age of majority of the child Felice should manage these shares. However, the dead man's conservative family does everything in his power to disgust the unpleasant business partner.

"Black Bill" is the name of the legendary shooter they tell stories about around campfires in the Wild West. And Freddy Quinn plays the singing Robin Hood of that Wild West. The black-clothed avenger rides through the prairie in search of bad guys, whom he shoots willy nilly in his self-imposed quest to protect innocent settlers in a lawless land. But before he took to the range in his black mask, terrorizing poor bandits looking to make an honest day's living, Freddy grew up on the farm of Old Ted, after a murderous band did in his parents. Since then, the singing killer's vowed to get his revenge by gunning down any criminal he sees. One day, Old Ted's kidnapped by bandits looking for the secret location of a goldmine ... and they're prepared to use torture to get the information (including making the old man listen to some of Freddy's singing, if need be). When Freddy finds out what's happened to Old Ted, he rides out to track down the bandits.
Freddy can hardly believe his good fortune: His uncle has left him some land in the Rocky Mountains, and, together with orphan Stefan, he's taking off for Canada. However, the great inheritance turns out to be a decrepit, old log cabin in the middle of nowhere. Nevertheless, an unusual number of people seem to be way too interested in the rundown ranch.
Admiral Canaris is chief of the intelligence service of Nazi Germany. His department is quite successful and Hitler grants him all the money he wants for new developments. Still he's a thorn in the side of the Nazi chiefs, since he's not as unscrupulous as they want him and is known to criticize their ideology.
