In this comedy, set in an Austrian mountain village, the town leaders conspire to attract tourists by touting a mythical "fountain of love" that runs nearby the village. When the minister of tourism discovers this, she immediately sends her agents to check out the veracity of the potentially scandalous water. After the village mayor declares a 3-day ban on sexual activity, he then plugs up the fountain. When the agents come, they find nothing. One of the agents wants to have his boss come and check it out personally, but changes his mind after he drinks some of the water. It really is an aphrodisiac! Soon tourists are arriving by the hundreds to sample the mysterious water. Unfortunately, the minister finds out and claims the water for the state.

Gestatten, mein Name ist Cox is a series of crime novels and audio dramas written by the German couple Rolf and Alexandra Becker, later also adapted to a television series and a movie. The series chronicle the adventures of Paul Cox, a professional gambler in London, with a tendency to get involved in intricate murder mysteries, where he often ends up as the main suspect and has to evade police and solve the crime to clear his name. He's aided in all his adventures by his friend Thomas Richardson, a private detective.

A hot-shot lawyer (Hanns Lothar) has to overcome the unaccountably biased perceptions of the police, the judge, the prosecutor and almost everyone else in the judicial system. The defence lawyer, driven to an extreme, knows he has to find the real killer or his client will be convicted.

Interestingly, director Herbert Selpin was arrested by the Gestapo during this film's production, and German censors banned the film for its scenes of panic and terror.
