During WWII a youth deserts his country's army after a combat experience, but not before wounding his commanding officer with a knife in order to escape. The young man, now very emotionally distraught, dresses in women's clothes and eventually joins a passing gypsy caravan, who think him a young girl... as well as a kind of seer, or 'rawney'. In time, however, he regains some composure and becomes attracted to one of the gypsy girls, which only leads to problems within the gypsy band, especially when the wounded commanding officer finds him.

Legendary documentary of the 1977 package tour arranged by David Robinson and Andrew Jakeman ("Kake Riviera") after they founded Stiff Records in London, England for five of their artists, and the bands that they concocted for the tour.
Faneditor DCP created this edit to restore the story and structure that Miramax completely cut from the film after taking control away from director Tim Pope. Miramax then released a very fake “director’s cut” to the public in 1996, with the real cut never seeing the light of day. This is the most complete version to date! Approx. 26 minutes longer than theatrical version. The director of this movie, Tim Pope, wrote a note to faneditor DCP to thank him for having done this fanedit.
