The main character of the story is veteran officer Mikhail Samylov who loses his friend Igor Makarov in Syria. Mikhail comes back to his port hometown Yantarsk to help Makarov’s widowed wife. He blames Igor’s death on himself. He doesn’t know, though, that Makarov is actually alive and turns out not who he seemed to be. A small port town becomes a battlefield of life and death. A chain of crimes always leads to one man — owner of the port Kupriyanov. Lost at what to do with his life, Mikhail, tormented by the pangs of guilt, will have to solve the crimes and find a new reason to keep on living.
A mysterious anomaly occurs off the coast of Cuba — a huge water tornado draws in water, draining the ocean. Belka and Strelka are sent by the Soviet rules to the island of fraternal peoples with an intelligence mission. The old friends will see beauties of Cuban nature and the azure expanse to the ocean, and the underwater world shrouded in secrets. They have to go through a series of dangerous adventures that will not only lead them to unravel the Cuban anomaly, but also test their friendship.
Early 18th century. Cartographer Jonathan Green undertakes a scientific voyage from Europe to the East. Having passed through Transylvania and crossed the Carpathian Mountains, he finds himself in a small village lost in impassible woods. Nothing but chance and heavy fog could bring him to this cursed place. People who live here do not resemble any other people which the traveler saw before that. The villagers, having dug a deep moat to fend themselves from the rest of the world, share a naive belief that they could save themselves from evil, failing to understand that evil has made its nest in their souls and is waiting for an opportunity to gush out upon the world.
Everyone is awakened by a combat alarm signal, according to which soldiers and officers instantly wake up and go to save the Motherland. But no one knows exactly where. It is worth noting that all this happens on New Year's Eve. And now, through a snow-covered forest in pitch darkness among centuries-old fir trees, our heroes are riding in a "shishig" on a special mission ... on a narrow track only headlights are visible ... After some time they arrive at a bunker lost in the forest ... What kind of special task can be on New Year's Eve do they wonder? Among other things, it turns out that Ensign Danilych, Private Poghosyan and Nurse Dasha were forgotten in a hurry. And these three, having decided to catch up with those who left, try to get to the place themselves and get lost in the night forest ... How will this adventure end, because there is very little time left before the New Year?
