These are the people responsible for creating, writing and overseeing every element of production on one of the United State’s biggest exports – television drama and comedy series. Often described as the most complex job in the entertainment business, a showrunner is the chief writer / producer on a TV series and, in most instances, the show’s creator. Battling daily between art and commerce, showrunners manage every aspect of a TV show’s development and production: creative, financial and logistical.

In Doug Jackson's Random Encounter, Elizabeth Berkley plays Alicia Brayman, a public relations executive on the rise. At a celebratory party, Alicia meets a handsome man named Kyle (Joel Wyner) who takes her home for sex. Madeleine (Mary Bradley), a crazed brunette with a knife, interrupts them. Alicia fatally bludgeons Madeline with a statue before she can stab Kyle. Kyle tells Alicia that he'll help her cover up the crime, but she is recognized during the getaway. As the heat is turned up and details start pouring out, Alicia learns that Kyle is a dangerous ex-con wanted for parole violations who set Madeleine up for murder and now has Alicia trapped in a web of deceit from which there seems to be no escape.

Carrying on the Prom Night tradition, this film begins back at Hamilton High School on Prom Night in 1957. As a young couple are enjoying a romantic moment together in the back seat of a car, they are interrupted by Father Jonas, a priest who slashes and immolates the lovers. Thirty years later, Jonas gets loose from the chapel basement where the church fathers had been secretly keeping him locked up and drugged. As luck would have it, it's prom night again, and group of four students have unfortunately chosen Jonas's hideout as their secluded getaway spot.
