Karlskov is a self made, successful owner of a large electronics factory, has a wife and five children. They live the good, privileged upper-class life on Strandvejen north of Copenhagen when the Nazis occupy Denmark in April 1940. Karl struggles to continue production at the factory, but to protect his family and employees he reluctantly begins to produce for the German market. It brings him into a controversial collaboration with the occupying power and causes painful breaks in the family.
After a six-year relationship with his girlfriend Rie, Jonas decides take a stab at the freedom of single life, but is confronted with a world filled with lonely, emotionless and sex-fixated individuals. An infernal racket from the upstairs neighbour Frank forces him to consider the possibility that noise can come from anywhere, even from the inside.
CRAIG is a lonely, somewhat awkward, young man trying to recover from losing his parents in a big fire. Besides a friend from childhood, in one go he looses everyone he cares about. The friend, Cliff, isn't of much use either. He has his own problems to deal with, he's not a bad guy, he's just in over his head as it is with his own problems. Craig has suffered some severe trauma and takes Lithium on a daily basis, but when he loses his pills, things slowly, but safely, starts taking a turn for the worse and the voices inside his head is getting louder and louder.
A satirical drama revealing the consequences of the Danish government's "New Copenhagen Criteria", a new policy aiming at securing the nation's survival. Citizens who fail to meet the criteria - those who have received more from society than what they have contributed - are eliminated.
