Raj Saxena is in love with fellow collegian, Rati Verma, and both want to get married. Rati introduces Raj to her father, Major Verma, who, after finding out about Raj's background, decides to have nothing to do with him. Advocate Jayant (Rajesh Khanna) a criminal lawyer believes that a lawyer's duty is to do service to his client alone and to bail him out of his trouble even if his client is in reality a criminal. His close friend Amit is an honest police inspector who brings many of the goons that are part of gang of smugglers led by Mulchand Malhotra but they are let off by the court when he uses his skills and knowledge about the loopholes in law. Pushpagiri Zamindar's (Prabhakar Reddy) only daughter Janaki (Pushpalata) loves and marries an ordinary man, Ranganna (Kanta Rao). After some time, the couple blessed with a baby boy, Kalyan. Sensing it, Dhanunjaya & Maruthi Rao kidnaps the entire family. At last, Rajesh sees their end and protects them. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Rajesh & Latha.
Nagabhushanam and his son Nagaraju (Satyanarayana) runs smuggling and Illegal transport of forest produce in the Forest. Ramu (NTR) opposes and raises the villagers to fight against him.
