Miguel is a young Spanish naval engineer in love with an American student of History of Art. When she becomes pregnant, she decides that the easiest solution to her situation is to marry her civilly. However, in Spain in the 1970s, prior to the passage of the Divorce Law, the only way to do so is to apostatize the Catholic Church. For Miguel, a believing devotee, taking this step involves a deep inner conflict.
Doña Nati, the owner of a house of prostitutes, takes a little vacation to attend his niece's first communion in the village. She is accompanied on the trip by three of his pupils: Barbara, Mercedes and Eva who pretend to be her friends. But soon, men realize what they are and begin to try to flirt with them. Magdalena is clean of all suspicion, and he is condemned to die buried in the castle wall. The Marquess of Moncada and other noble gentlemen, all friends of Don Mendo, facilitate his escape.
Josephine and Antonio have reached a delicate economic balance after marriage. The salary of lawyer from him, and wins her in the hospital, allows them to survive and fantasize about some freak. The situation is complicated by the news that Josephine is pregnant.
