Hee-Young ( Kim Gyu-Ri) becomes sick and tired of her husband, who sometimes even forgets her name. One day, Hee-Young decides to go to Busan without having any specific plans. Hee-Young does hope to find her find her first love. She left her first love to marry her wealthy husband. By chance, Hee-Young takes a taxi driven by Joon-Ho (Yu Geon). Joo-Ho gave up his dream of becoming a professional baseball player and leads a boring life as a taxi driver. He's bothered by Hee-Young, who holds a cold expression, but also reveals sadness.
Lights and Shadows is a 2012 South Korean retro-drama series, starring Ahn Jae-wook, Nam Sang-mi, Lee Pil-mo and Son Dam-bi. It aired on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation from November 28, 2011 to July 3, 2012 on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:55 for 64 episodes. The series was originally planned for 50 episodes, but it was extended to 64 due to high ratings.
Kang Jae is a wealthy businessman and gangster and Mi Joo is a plastic surgeon. These two meet after Mi Joo mistakes Kang Jae as being her sleazy brother-in-law. Kang Jae just happens to be the boyfriend of Mi Joo's pregnant neighbour, Yoo Jin. Sae Yeon meets Mi Joo and falls in love with her feisty attitude. Kang Jae works for the father of Sae Yeon who is a gangster. Mi Joo and Kang Jae fall in love.

Hye-jin's homecoming should have been a joyous occasion. She was especially happy to see her childhood friend again, the shy Eun-ju. However, when a secret is revealed, harsh words are exchanged. On the next morning, the teenager Jae-yi Yoon waits for her friend Ji-oh Lim, who has the ability to call the spirits, and they begin a close friendship. The abusive and aggressive Mr. Oh, a.k.a. Mad Dog, is the substitute of Mrs. Park and prohibits Ji-oh to paint and compares the performances of the pretty So-young Park and the weird Jung-sook Kim, raising a barrier between the two former friends. Miss Hur misses her former friend Jin-ju, who committed suicide, and while trying to contact her, she discloses a dark secret about the past of her friend and Mrs. Park.
