But most of all, the boastful, long-haired and long-sworded Sasaki Kojiro.

They then begin a global siege on the planet, using absolute zero rays to manipulate gravity. In response, a global council meeting is held to determine the source of the attacks. There, a representative becomes suddenly stricken with head pain. It is later revealed that he has become mind controlled by the invaders. Revealing themselves to be the Natarl, the aliens declare war on humanity. In response, Earth prepares the SPIP rocket ships. Their plan is to take the war to the aliens, by having a battle in outer space...

An ageing fishing boat, Dai-go Fukuryu Maru ("Lucky Dragon No. 5") sets out from the port of Yaizu in Shizuoka Prefecture. It travels around the Pacific line fishing. While the ship is near Bikini Atoll, the ship's navigator sees a flash. All the crew come up to watch. They realize it is an atomic explosion, but take time to clear their fishing gear. A short time later, grey ash starts to fall on the ship. When the ship returns to port the sailors have been burned brown. They unload the fish, which are then transported away. They visit the local doctor and then go to Tokyo for an examination. It turns out they are all highly radioactive. Their symptoms become worse, and the contaminated fish causes a panic.

When a rare species of butterfly is found in a mysterious valley in Japan, a pair of entomologists go to investigate and find more. However, when they get there they find an uncharted lake and as they are observing it they are caught in a landslide and killed. A reporter named Yuriko, the sister of one of the men decides to go to the area to find out what exactly happened. She is accompanied by another entomologist named Kenji and a reporter named Horiguchi. When they get to the village where the men were last seen alive they find out about a legend regarding a giant monster. They soon find out that it is not a legend and the monster named Varan is very much alive. Soon Varan leaves the valley where he has lived for millions of years and is heading for Tokyo.

One of these becomes a successful painter, and one day Akiko appears in the gallery with the painting titled Woman. Shokichi surprised to find that the "woman" is actually his first love, and Akiko is like the image writing it.
