Luisa-Céline Gaffron
Luisa, a 20-year-old law student, joins a cell of the Antifa group when she and her friends Alfa and Lenor get to know about an upcoming attack planned by a local neo-Nazi gang. As they try to find out more, the three youngsters delve deeper into the scene linked to right-wing movements and their political connections, to the point where they will understand how much they are willing to go further, in order to defend their own beliefs.
1942, occupied Europe. Gilles Cremieux, a Belgian of Jewish origin, once in a concentration camp, pretends to be a Persian - for him this is the only opportunity to stay alive. This lie, indeed, saves him from being shot, but Gilles does not yet know what price he will have to pay for this salvation. German soldiers bring Gilles to Klaus Koch, a cook in a concentration camp who wants to leave for Iran and open a restaurant there as soon as the war ends. Koch is looking for a real Persian who will teach him how to speak Farsi. Thus begins the story of Gilles Cremier and Klaus Koch - a Jew and a German, a prisoner and a jailer, student and teacher.
Germany, 1933: Little Anna Kemper lives with her family in Berlin. Since her father, a famous theater critic, is an open opponent of the National Socialists, he has to flee to Zurich after Hitler's rise to power. The mother, Anna and her twelve-year-old brother soon follow him. Because there is hardly any time to prepare for the escape, Anna has to leave her beloved stuffed rabbit in a hurry. But the family does not find a permanent home in Switzerland either. Again and again Anna has to adapt to the constantly changing circumstances, face new challenges with her family and face great privations. Nevertheless, Anna tries not to lose braveness.
These young women are an odd couple. Julie is quick-witted and stubborn. She celebrates idleness and even voluntarily checks into a psychiatric clinic. Nurse Agnes, on the other hand, is always eager to do the right thing and to meet everyone's expectations of her, which is not always easy. When the two of them accidentally meet one day, odds are they won't get along. But they quickly feel attracted to one another, despite their enormous differences.
