A film about an eccentric man of the world called God, who lives in an ordinary detached house with his family: his Swedish wife Gerd Lillian and his two youngest sons, Thomas and Jens. The oldest son, Mikkel wants nothing to do with God, so-called because he treats the world as his own creation. In reality, God is a man with a mild dependency on alcohol. Omniscient and inspirational, he rules his subjects with love, cunning and an iron rod (not to mention spirit). A rebellion is quietly looming in the shape of his sons and Gerd Lillian, but it comes to nothing when God is diagnosed with cancer and compassion replaces anger. However, when God is seemingly cured of his disease, his sons unite in their desire to kill God - if the cancer couldn't do it, they must. God survives, but the cancer returns - this time with a vengeance. Only when God realises that his final hour is upon him is he able to relinquish his kingdom and set his subjects free. In death, God takes on a human guise.

The tale of a troubled small town, and the brave few who made it their mission to keep the community together. As the citizens of a secluded Danish town gradually lose their trust in one and other, the sight of a naked man walking through town in the early hours of the morning sets off an unsettling wave of paranoia.
To the mentally ill Kriss, the world is divided the up into 'good and evil', just like in the old B&W melodrama, 'Pure Hearts', which Kriss and his fellow patient, Willy, spend their days repeatedly watching at the psychiatric ward. To Kriss this film is the bible. One day after a serious conflict with one of the hospital's other patients their viewing rights are retracted. Kriss is deeply frustrated by this, until he realises that Linda, the young girl in the film, actually exists in the shape of the film's star, the actress Ulla Vilstrup. Setting fire to the hospital, Kriss and Willy escape into the night, determined to find her, because life is what you make of it.
