I have read the book " The Bourne Identity" by Robert Ludlum and watched the 1988 tv mini -series starring Michael Chamberlain. While I absolutely enjoyed the movies starring Matt Damon, which I rate as "A Grade", the latter movie has very little in common with the original novel apart from Jason Bourne being swept over board from a fishing vessel. The TV mini -series of 1988 has a few changes of story from the novel but does not in any way measure up to the Matt Damon film. I'm in the process of reading the rest of the Bourne novels written by Robert Ludlum, but still there is no resemblance to the rest of the Matt Damon films. I can't understand why a film maker would alter such a great story line just to use a novels title?
