Mad Dogs is a British black comedy and psychological thriller television series created by Cris Cole that began airing on Sky1 on 10 February 2011. It is produced by Left Bank Pictures, and co-produced by Palma Pictures. The series stars John Simm, Marc Warren, Max Beesley, and Philip Glenister as four long-time and middle-aged friends getting together in a villa in Majorca to celebrate the early retirement of their friend Alvo. However, after Alvo is murdered, the group find themselves caught up in the world of crime and police corruption. The series was initially a story about a rock band, but changed after a feeling that bands have been "done to death". After gaining interest from some terrestrial networks, the series was commissioned by British Sky Broadcasting. Filming took place on location throughout the island of Majorca in May 2010, and took around four million euros and 44 days to make. The main themes are friendship and growing older; Glenister said it is about ageing and "getting closer to death". Photographer David LaChapelle directed three 30-second advertisements for the series. Mad Dogs opened with 1.61 million viewers, the 17th highest rated programme ever for Sky1, and attracted positive reactions from critics. They noted similarities with British gangster films, more predominantly the 2000 film Sexy Beast.
Survivors was a British science fiction television series produced by the BBC. It depicts the lives of a group of people who survived a virulent unknown strain of influenza which has wiped out most of the human species. According to the producers, the series is not a remake of the 1970s BBC television series Survivors, created by Terry Nation, but is loosely based on the novel of the same name that Nation wrote following the first series of the 1970s series. Two series were produced of the new series. Series 1 ran on BBC One and BBC HD in November–December 2008, and series 2 ran in January–February 2010, ending with a cliffhanger. The BBC announced on 13 April 2010 that, due to poor viewing figures and other considerations, Survivors had been cancelled. The series had its premiere in South Africa on BBC Entertainment in September 2009, in France on DTTV channel NRJ 12 on 12 January 2010, and on BBC America in the United States on 13 February 2010. The series' Australian premiere was on Channel Nine, on 21 March 2010.

Talk to Me is a British television serial, written by writer Danny Brocklehurst, produced by Company Pictures for ITV. The four-part serial began on 10 June 2007 and stars Max Beesley as Mitch Moore, a womanising radio host whose producer is also his best mate and about to get married to Claire. She is a new mother, experiencing the emotional crunch of returning to her office job after maternity leave. Mitch was in love with Clare and after Clare had an argument with her fiancé, she and Mitch slept together. Clare walked out on him telling him it was a one-off but later they had sex in his car. Clare eventually breaks her affair with Mitch off, but feeling guilty she tells her fiancé what she has done. He walks out on her and takes their baby son. He then punches Mitch and tells him they are no longer friends. Clare and her fiancé eventually reconcile when Mitch makes a heartfelt plea on his radio station, Mitch is left with no one. It was announced in early 2007 under the working title Is This Love?. ITV commissioned the show in a bid to rebrand their channel for a younger audience, Laura Mackie's first show since becoming controller of drama, she stated that Talk to Me is the template for their new output - sexy, stylish and contemporary. The first episode attracted 4.2 million viewers, growing to 5.5 million in its second week. The series was released on DVD by Granada Ventures on 9 July 2007.
Hotel Babylon is a British television drama series based on the book of the same name by Imogen Edwards-Jones, that aired from 19 January 2006 to 14 August 2009, produced by independent production company Carnival Films for BBC One. The show followed the lives of workers at a glamorous five-star hotel. In 2009, actress Alexandra Moen mentioned in an interview that the show was cancelled after its fourth series, leaving the series 4 finale cliffhanger unresolved.
