The Reporter is an Indian Malayalam mystery thriller-romance film directed by Venugopan. The film stars Kailash, Samuthirakani, Ananya and Abhinaya.

Unni Amma's grandson Manu comes to spend a couple of weeks with Unni Amma before he goes to USA. Manu and Balamani fall in love but the whole family is against their union. Will Balamani's friend Guruvayoorappan (Lord Krishna of Guruvayoor) come to their help..?
The plot revolves around the life in a typical, Malayali household- consisting of four brothers. The first three brothers are married to- Kausalya, Indumati, Anandam, 3 naiive, and shallow wives who adore their husbands dearly and whom the husbands equally love. The family is headed by their father, Munshi Parameshwaran Pillai, a veteran Gandhian teacher respected by everyone in their village. the household is a happy, peaceful and satisfied one until the arrival of their new neighbor- an irresistibly charming and beautiful South Indian heroine- Yamuna Rani. This turns the household upside down and sends the ladies into a frenzy.
The film discusses a father's unability to grow his children due to the rreason that their mother is no more. Mukesh's character wants his children to grow up with both love of father amd mother. So, he gives both the childrento his best friend Chadradas(Murali) and his wife Sukanya who have no children. Mukesh's death and its after effects are discussed. Mohini also plays an important role in this film.
