The hospital is full of inept people, so Miss Kuk (Meg Lam) vows to the board that she will reform it. Kok is a bored valet driver who spends most of his day dreaming about the beautiful bikini-clad woman whose picture he has taped up to his office wall. One day, a major crime boss keels over dead in the brothel run by his mother. Trying to keep the whole thing quiet before the guy's underling return to pick him up, Kok's mother stuffs the corpse into the box and stashes it in Kok's parking lot. When the thugs put the squeeze on mom, she claims that she dumped the corpse in the harbor, which inevitably leads to even more hilarious complications.

He recruits a team for the task which consists of who's who of the Shaw Brother's action stars (Lo Lieh, Johnny Wang Lung Wei, Wong Yue, Chan Wei Man and comedy relief Nat Chan). However once they arrived for the mission nothing is what it seems with the standard plot-twists and turns as we find out who's the traitor among the group.

THE HEROES offers an intriguing variation on the Shaolin theme, starting with the familiar account of the burning of Shaolin Temple and the repression of Shaolin kung fu by the Manchurian-backed Qing rulers. Here the focus is on a former Shaolin man, Marshal Kao, who takes his former classmates prisoner and, instead of executing them, proposes to his Qing commander that he torture them and break their spirits until they're willing to fight on behalf of the Qings. The 'torture' comes to look increasingly like strenuous kung fu training with Kao putting the prisoners through their paces. The Qing governor and his aides become suspicious of Kao's motives, although the beautiful Princess Shao Lung develops her own ideas about him. Interspersed within the story are flashbacks to Kao's training at Shaolin.

Po-Chih Leong's debut film was a trendsetter in Hong Kong cinema. Shot from the shoulder, the fast-moving world of cops, informers, drug dealers and other crooks are evoked in a very lively and realistic way. The action all takes place in carefully selected locations, among them the walled city of Kowloon and Yuen Long. The film looks like a documentary and evokes the kind of excitement usually seen in news programmes. The story focuses on the battle between two gangs and starts in Amsterdam, where one of the gang leaders is murdered.

Yao Hao (Chen Sing), is a young man whose father was assassinated and whose mother was killed in an attack on the funeral procession. He survives the attack and winds up at a Shaolin temple where he insists he wants to stay and become a monk. His beautiful fiancée (Lu Shu Chin) pleads with him to come back with her, but he refuses. The head monk, Brother Fa (Chan Wai Man), an orphan who's been at the monastery all his life and is expecting to succeed the current Shaolin Abbot, is jealous of the privileges Yao Hao has had in life and asks him questions about the outside world, including what it's like to touch a woman. Brother Fa's weakening resolve soon finds him leaving the monastery and falling into the clutches of Lord Eagle (Kam Kong), the Manchu ruler in the area who's trying to wipe out all resistance to Manchu/Ching rule.

When two kung-fu brothers attempt to carry out a dying man's wish, they suddenly find themselves caught in a war between two rival gangs. Chow Yin and Si Fong were out for a walk when the spotted dying burglar Ting Chow Ming. Stumbling out from the bushes, Ting used his last breath to request that Chow and Si take the stolen jewels to his wife. Later, as Chow and Sii attempt to seek out Ting's wife and daughter, gangsters who have been charged with the task of recovering the stolen goods ambush them.
