They were the defending state champions, and all five starters were returning for their senior year. Soon, the USFL was reduced to waging a desperate anti-trust lawsuit against the NFL, which yielded an ironic verdict that effectively forced the league out of business. The 2007 debut of the series marks the 30th anniversary of the 1977 World Series win for the Yankees, the first under Steinbrenner. After airing on ESPN, episodes could be viewed on ABC on Demand.

It was one of the few shows produced by the former not to air on ABC in recent years. Only two episodes aired before the series was canceled.
