Prof. Ram Dayal, his assistant Johnny and daughter Leena go to the jungle in search of Cobra Tribe's treasure. Jojo and Bakona, a pair of crooks, follow them secretly. When the party enters the jungle, Tarzan, the king of the jungle, takes Leena away to his hideout. The Professor and his party search for her. Leena is treated well by Tarzan and they fall in love. When the party sees Tarzan they want to kill him, but Leena saves him. Later the party must deal with the two crooks, betrayal among them, and the Cobra Tribe.
DSP Shiv Kumar(Sunil Dutt) returns home to his wife Sheetal(Raakhee Gulzar) and their young daughter and announces that he has been transferred to Bombay. Shiv Kumar has two brothers, Vijay(Amitabh Bachchan) and Ravi(Shashi Kapoor), who live in Mumbai. They are intelligent and capable guys, but spend their time loafing about the city and swindling unsuspecting people. After resuming his work at Mumbai, however, a mystery man(Shatrughan Sinha) tries to assassinate Shiv Kumar. Shiv Kumar survives both the times.
Ram and Balram are 2 young boys who live with their loving parents. Their scheming uncle, Jagatpal, however kills the boy's father and mother. Jagatpal lies to the boys that their parents have been killed in an accident and promises to raise them himself. He enrolls the younger brother Balram, in school and eventually sends him off to join the police force. The older becomes a mechanic. Jagatpal has a tight hold on the boys, even when Ram is an adult, he still gives all his wages to his uncle and is only allowed to keep a few rupees for pocket money.
Inspector Raj Singh's father was killed by Shankar and his men for gold. Years later he locates them but also finds that he has a step brother Suraj who works for Shankar now known as Devi Dayal.
